Asitha Fernando is a fiery right-arm medium-fast bowler who has become Sri Lanka’s premier Test pace weapon through sheer intensity and adaptability. The 28-year-old from Katuneriya, educated at St. Sebastian’s College, may be shorter than the typical fast bowler, but he compensates with relentless effort and the ability to extract movement on any surface. His international journey began early with an ODI call-up before he turned 20, but it was in Test cricket that he truly flourished. After a debut in South Africa in 2021, Asitha announced himself in 2022 with a stunning 6 for 51 against Bangladesh in Mirpur, claiming his maiden ten-wicket haul.
