Tendai Chatara is a tall, wiry right-arm fast-medium bowler from Zimbabwe who has been a mainstay of the national attack for over a decade. The 35-year-old from Chimanimani possesses a uniquely lopsided bowling action, with his left arm almost glued to his side as he rushes through the crease, but the results have been consistently impressive. Making his first-class debut for Mountaineers in 2009, Chatara rose quickly through the ranks, representing Zimbabwe at the 2010 Under-19 World Cup before making his senior T20I debut against India in June 2010. His international breakthrough came in 2013 when he took 32 wickets in 18 games, including a maiden Test five-for that sealed a famous Test win over Pakistan. With 281 first-class wickets at an average of 21.97, including 12 five-wicket hauls and best figures of 6 for 33, Chatara has been one of Zimbabwe’s most prolific fast bowlers. Across ODIs, he has taken 115 wickets, and in T20Is, he has 65 wickets, cementing his legacy as one of the country’s finest pace bowlers.
