Mother - Passed away (2018)
Rashid Khan is Afghanistan’s first cricket superstar and was very important to their early success. His fast and accurate legspin has made him one of the best T20 bowlers in the world. Teams everywhere want him to play in their leagues.
Rashid does not spin the ball much but bowls quickly and keeps the ball straight, following his hero Shahid Afridi. His best ball is a very accurate googly, and he can bowl in many different ways. Rashid can also hit big shots with the bat late in the game, often turning average scores into wins for Afghanistan.
He made his ODI debut at just 17 in 2015. Soon after, Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him for almost ₹4 crore ($600,000) in the IPL. He took 17 wickets in his first season there. Rashid then played for teams in the Caribbean Premier League and Australia’s Big Bash, setting records and winning titles.
For Afghanistan, he often took lots of wickets and was named the ICC Associate Cricketer of the Year in 2017. The next year, he became the youngest player to top the ODI bowling rankings, the youngest international captain, and the fastest to 100 ODI wickets.
In Test cricket, he helped Afghanistan win their first matches by taking lots of wickets and scoring important runs. In T20 leagues, Rashid always made a strong impact. He took 93 wickets in five years with Sunrisers Hyderabad, then moved to Gujarat Titans in 2022, taking 19 wickets as they won the IPL.
