Ishan Kishan hails from a humble background and developed a passion for cricket at a young age. He started playing cricket in hometown and caught the attention of selectors with exceptional talent and batting skills. Kishan was just 16 years old when he made debut for Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy, India’s premier domestic cricket tournament.
Ishan Kishan’s domestic career has been filled with notable achievements and consistent performances. He has represented Jharkhand in various tournaments including the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Ishan Kishan made his international debut for India in March 2021 in a T20I match. He was named in T20I squad of India for a 5-match series against England. In his very first match, he made an immediate impact by scoring a blistering half-century(56 runs in 32 balls), becoming only the second Indian player to achieve this feat on debut.
In the very same year in June 2021, he was also named in the ODI and T20 squad of India for their tour to Sri Lanka where he had made his ODI debut. And again with the same style in his ODI debut, he again hit half century (59 runs in 42 balls). With all these extraordinary performances had led him named in India’s squad for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.
Ishan Kishan has made his Test debut for India in July 2023 against West Indies in the Dominica Test and was also the keeper in the match.
The breakthrough of Ishan Kishan came in 2016 when he was signed by Gujarat Lions in Indian Premier League. He impressed everyone with fearless batting and became youngest player to score a half-century in IPL at the age of 18.
