Windrose Fishing Guide: How to Fish, All Fish Types & Locations

How to Fish in Windrose

You can only survive on berries and roasted boar meat for so long. Eventually, you will need better buffs for late-game combat. Catching fish unlocks the best food recipes in the game and provides massive vitality boosts to your character.

Beyond just cooking there is also a completion reward tied to fishing. Catching all ten fish species hidden across the shallow and deep waters actually rewards you with a unique piece of jewellery called the Fisherman’s Ring.

At very first you would need a Level 2 Workbench and the Sawhorse upgrade. If you have not done that yet, then upgrade your bench using 20x Wood and 10x Copper.

Once your bench is ready, open the crafting menu. Now you will need: 5x Hardwood, 3x Rope, 2x Foothills Iron Ingot to craft a Fishing Rod.

How to Catch Fish in Windrose

Catching fish is a simple waiting game that you can do from any shore or even while standing on your boat. First, put the rod in your hotkey bar and equip it. Then use the same attack button to throw your line out into the water.

  1. Stand near the edge of the water and left click to cast the line.
  2. Watch the bobber carefully after it floats on the surface.
  3. Ignore the Small movement and wait for the big splash.
  4. Left-click immediately when you see the splash to reel it in.

Do not click just because the bobber moves. If you react before the actual splash, you will lose the chance. Once the fish is in your inventory, you can turn it into Fish Fillets by right-clicking it. These fillets are the main ingredient for several strong cooking recipes.

Having a steady supply of Fish in Windrose is the only way to craft the Seafood Platter, which gives a massive 20 point boost to your Vitality. To finish those high-tier recipes, you will also need Salt, which you can loot by boarding enemy ships or by visiting the Brethren of the Coast provisioner for two Piastre per piece.
