Naveen-ul-Haq is a feisty right-arm medium-fast bowler from Afghanistan who has become one of the most sought-after T20 specialists in franchise cricket worldwide. The 26-year-old from Kabul fled with his family to Pakistan in his early years, where he began playing tape-ball cricket before returning to Afghanistan and transitioning to leather-ball cricket. His rise was rapid—just two days after turning 17, he made his ODI debut against Bangladesh. Naveen has since evolved from a death-overs specialist into a bowler capable of striking across all phases, developing a wide range of slower-ball variations that make him a handful on any surface. His international breakthrough came during the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he took 13 wickets and played a starring role in Afghanistan’s historic first-ever victory over Australia, as the team reached the semi-finals for the first time. In the IPL, he has been a key performer for Lucknow Super Giants, taking 11 wickets in his debut season and 14 in 2024. A globetrotting T20 mercenary, Naveen has represented numerous franchises across the BPL, CPL, LPL, and other leagues, cementing his reputation as one of Afghanistan’s premier white-ball bowlers.
