Australia | Bowling All Rounder
Father: Mark Molineux, Mother: Therese Molineux
Sophie Molineux is a left-arm spinning allrounder who has been a vital part of Australia’s women’s setup despite a career plagued by injuries. The 28-year-old from Victoria made her international debut in 2018 and quickly established herself as a key contributor, helping Australia win the T20 World Cup later that year. Her ability to contribute with both bat and ball makes her a genuine asset, though it’s her left-arm orthodox bowling that has taken centrestage at the international level. Injuries, including foot and knee problems, kept her out of the Australian side for over two years until her return in 2024, though another knee issue ruled her out of the 2024-25 Ashes. Despite these setbacks, Molineux’s leadership qualities have been recognized—she was named all-format captain in 2026 as Alyssa Healy’s successor, a testament to her standing within the team. Domestically, she has been a standout performer, captaining Melbourne Renegades to their first WBBL title in 2024 and leading Victoria since 2022.
