How to Complete Fifteen Men on a Dead Man's Chest Quest in Windrose

The Fifteen Men on a Dead Man’s Chest in Windrose is one of the first side quests you can finish early in the game. It serves as an introduction to the game’s treasure-hunting and digging mechanics.

The good news is that the whole quest is actually pretty simple. But if you’ve reached the spot and aren’t sure what to do next, keep reading. I’ll walk you through everything you need.

First, you need to go to the Pirate Remains point on the eastern part of the first island. Look for a shipwrecked boat on the beach. Next to it, you will find a Decrepit Chest containing a Blurry Sketch of the Island.

Read the sketch in your Journal to start the quest, and a blue marker will appear on your map. If the quest does not update right away, open the sketch again to make sure it has been triggered properly. After that, head to the marked location.

Equip your shovel, switch to the dig option, and start digging at the center point between all four skeletons. After a couple of digs, the chest will appear from the ground.

Tip: Use double-stacked food buffs to increase your maximum HP before digging.

Opening the chest for the first time spawns four Drowned enemies. You can easily take them down if you have at least some moderate weapons.

They are not that dangerous but they can create problems if they surround you and start attacking together. The safest way to handle the fight is to keep moving, avoid standing still in the middle of the group, and pick off whichever enemy gets close first.

Tip: Drowned enemies are relatively slow. Use a “kite and poke” strategy: land 1 or 2 hits, then immediately dash or walk backward to create distance before they can swing back.

Make sure to carry Healing Potions or Bandages. You can obtain 10 potions early on by completing the “Twist of Fancy” quest. Healing items will help, but movement matters more.

After killing all four of them, go back to the chest and interact with it again.

FAQs

Where can I find the Blurry Sketch of the Island in Windrose?

It is inside the Decrepit Chest near the shipwreck at the Pirate Remains location.

Yes, you need a shovel to perform the digging action. Without it, you will not be able to dig the chest, as it is hidden under the ground between the skeletons.
