How to Complete Windrose Seafarer Tutorial

How to Complete Windrose Seafarer Tutorial

The Windrose Seafarer is where the real adventure begins. You finally get control of a proper ship, and the game shifts from surviving on land to fighting at sea. Cannons, ship crafting, boarding enemy vessels, and naval positioning all come into play here.

This quest unlocks after finishing the main story mission called I Need a Bigger Boat. Once that is done and you progress through the early island objectives, the Seafarer tutorial becomes available. From here, your goal is simple: prepare your ketch for combat and take down Blackbeard’s pirates.

First off, you have to finish the I Need a Bigger Boat main story quest; which is to repair and prepare your boat. Once you have successfully completed the quest, this triggers the Seafarer Tutorial to activate.

This is basically your naval combat training, with the game introducing all the ship weapon systems, crafting infrastructure, and sea battles. If you are playing in demo mode, please note that this quest does not completely end and will say it’s continued on your game.

Build the Shipwright’s Workshop for Windrose Seafarer

Your main goal is to set up a workshop to make ships at your camps.

You will require the following:

  • 15 Wood
  • 10 Coarse Fabric
  • 5 Copper Ingots

To collect your wood, use your axe to chop down trees and find wrecked boats on the beach. Coarse fabric can be made from textiles that you make early in the game. You can get copper ingots from mining copper from caves or you can get charcoal from converting your wood in a kiln and then making the ingots by melting copper ore in a furnace.

After you build the shipbuilder’s workshop, place it inside your other small buildings similar to how you built your armour and clothing workshop. After you build the shipbuilder’s workshop, you will be able to make ship weapons.

Craft 12 Pounder Cannons

With the Shipwright’s Workshop finished, it is now time to equip your ship.

In order to make 12-Pound Cannons, you will need:

  • 10 Copper Ingots
  • 10 Wood

If you need more ingots, mine for more copper and keep your furnaces busy. You will be able to build additional furnaces to create more ingots quickly, but keep in mind that each furnace consumes charcoal to produce ingots. After creating the cannons, they will be added to your inventory, but you will not be able to use them until you build up your ship’s gun towers.

Build a Wharf and Prepare the Ketch

Access the Building Panel’s Utilities section and find the Wharf plan.

You will need the following resources:

  • 10 Wood
  • 10 Coarse Fabric

Position the Wharf in the vicinity of your dock area. The Wharf will serve as your station for customizing and creating ships.

Select the Wharfs’ Shipyard tab within the Wharf and the ketch design will be accessible to you to build your ketch. This will require additional resources such as nails, wood, fabric and rope fibre. Once the ketch has been built you may board her.

You will now be able to retrieve 12-Pounder Cannons from your mechanical ship storage and place them in your Ship Gear. Your Ketch will then be combat-ready.

Defeat Blackbeard’s Pirates

It’s time to put your skills to the test for Windrose Seafarer.

Sail towards the objective area on your map that is designated as the home of the next island. You will see a circle around the objective that indicates where to find the enemy vessels. You will run into Blackbeard’s pirate ketch.

When attacking your opponent, don’t pursue them directly or head-on. Instead, travel parallel to them so that you have a clear shot at them (this allows your cannons to fire at a side angle). Stay to their left or right and use all of your cannonballs.

Once you’ve done significant damage to the enemy, you can get close enough to board the pirate ship. Once you are inside the ship, destroy all of the enemies onboard. There are 7 enemies to kill in order for you to complete this goal. You may also find a lot of loot after clearing the ship’s deck.

That’s all from us regarding Windrose Seafarer Tutorial.
