Hardik Pandya Stays Back in Mumbai for Check Up; Dhoni May Travel to Lucknow

Hardik Pandya & MS Dhoni

Hardik Pandya did not travel with the Mumbai Indians team to Dharamsala for their match against Punjab Kings on Wednesday. The MI captain has already missed the last two games because of back spasms. His absence from the travelling group could mean he may need more time to recover. However, some sources say he could still join the squad later before the game.

The team management is checking his injury in Mumbai. In eight matches this season, Pandya has scored 146 runs and taken only four wickets. His form has also been a concern. Mumbai Indians are currently ninth on the points table with three wins from 11 games. They are out of the playoff race.

Suryakumar Yadav also did not travel with the team. He recently became a father and is taking some personal time. He is expected to join the squad later in Dharamsala.

In another update, MS Dhoni may travel to Lucknow for Chennai Super Kings‘ next match. According to CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan, the team has booked Dhoni’s ticket on a commercial flight along with the rest of the squad. Dhoni has been careful about travelling this season due to a calf injury. He has only travelled for two away games so far and has not played a single match this IPL.

CSK have three matches left this season. They are fifth on the points table with six wins and still have a chance to make the playoffs.
