Father - Mohammed Ghaus, Mother - Shabana Begum
Mohammed Siraj quickly became a top fast bowler in cricket. He grew up in Hyderabad, where his father drove an autorickshaw. Siraj first started playing cricket with a real cricket ball in 2015 when he was in class seven. By 2017, he impressed so much that he got an IPL contract worth ₹2.6 crore. Just a few months after that, he was picked to play for India in a T20 match against New Zealand. Siraj is known for his strong, athletic build and his unique run-up that makes it look like he is a left-arm bowler, but he actually bowls with his right arm. He naturally swings the ball into right-handed batsmen and can bowl fast bouncers, which caught the attention of Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner and mentor VVS Laxman.
Siraj showed his talent in his second Ranji Trophy season by taking 41 wickets in nine games, making him the top wicket-taker for his state. This led to him playing for Rest of India and India A on a tour to South Africa, which helped him move to higher levels of cricket soon after.
In the IPL, Siraj started out with Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he took 10 wickets in his first season. Later, he joined Royal Challengers Bengaluru, staying with them for seven years and becoming their main bowler during the first overs of a match, especially shining in 2023 when he took 19 wickets in 14 matches. In IPL 2024, he took 15 wickets, but RCB let him go before the 2025 mega-auction, and Siraj was then bought by Gujarat Titans for ₹12.25 crore.
