WPL 2027 Fixtures Announced: RCB and Mumbai Indians Set the Tone in Vadodara

WPL

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru will begin their Women’s Premier League title defence against two-time winners Mumbai Indians on January 14, as the BCCI confirmed the full schedule for the 2027 edition.

The tournament will be staged entirely across two venues, with the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium hosting the first leg of 11 fixtures from January 14 to January 24 before the competition shifts to the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai.

The opener pits the two most decorated sides in the league’s short history against each other, a fixture that has come to define the competition’s biggest occasions. RCB and Mumbai Indians will meet again to launch the Mumbai leg on January 26.

UP Warriorz Under Early Scrutiny

UP Warriorz, the side that made the biggest splash at the recent auction, open their campaign against Gujarat Giants on January 15. Their dealings at the auction have drawn attention, and the early fixtures will offer the first indication of whether that investment translates into results.

Four-time runners-up Delhi Capitals begin against RCB on January 16, a demanding start against the defending champions.

The Vadodara Leg

Eleven matches will be played in Vadodara, with all fixtures scheduled for a 7:30 PM start. Gujarat Giants feature heavily in the opening week, facing UP Warriorz, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians and RCB across a six-day span.

The Vadodara schedule concludes on January 24 with UP Warriorz taking on Gujarat Giants, the reverse of the fixture that opened the Giants’ campaign.

Mumbai Takes Over

Nine league matches will be played at the Cricket Club of India from January 26 to February 3, with Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz closing out the league stage. The Eliminator is set for February 5, with the final on February 7.

The compressed two-venue format reduces travel and concentrates the competition into a defined window. For the BCCI, the arrangement offers logistical simplicity. For the teams, the challenge is to manage momentum across a shift in conditions mid-tournament.
