Ibrahim Zadran is a technically sound right-handed opening batter who has emerged as one of Afghanistan’s most consistent performers across formats. The 24-year-old from Khost made a remarkable start to his international career, scoring three centuries in his first five ODIs after a two-year hiatus following his debut in 2019, including a spectacular 162 against Sri Lanka in Pallekele. His Test debut was equally memorable, scoring 87 in Afghanistan’s historic win over Bangladesh in Chattogram. A veteran of two Under-19 World Cups where he was his side’s top run-scorer, Zadran has carried that form into senior cricket with notable performances against top teams, including a match-winning 87 against Pakistan in the 2023 World Cup and a crucial fifty in Afghanistan’s T20 World Cup victory over Australia in 2024. While his T20 strike rate may not yet attract the top leagues, his ability to anchor innings and build partnerships has made him a vital cog in Afghanistan’s batting lineup, with his average in the early 30s ranking among the best in the side.
