Father: Said Ahmad
Fareed Ahmad is a left-arm fast-medium bowler from Afghanistan who has been a consistent performer in the international circuit despite facing challenges in cementing a permanent spot in the national team. The 31-year-old from Nangarhar first gained attention as a teenager when he took a seven-wicket haul against Pakistan U-19 in 2014, earning his ODI debut later that year and his T20I cap in 2016. While his international career has been marked by stop-gap opportunities, Fareed has delivered in key moments, including a three-wicket haul against Pakistan in the 2022 Asia Cup, a three-wicket haul in the semi-final of the 2023 Asian Games, and 3 for 20 against India in Bengaluru in 2024. He made his Test debut against Zimbabwe in January 2025 and was part of Afghanistan’s historic semi-final run at the 2024 T20 World Cup. With a strong domestic record of 117 wickets in 32 first-class matches and 98 wickets in 97 T20s, Fareed remains a valuable left-arm seamer in Afghanistan’s pace arsenal.
