Zimbabwe | All Rounder
Father: Kelly Bennett, Mother: Sarah Bennett
Brian Bennett is a naturally aggressive top-order batter and useful off-spinner who has rapidly ascended to become one of Zimbabwe’s most exciting young cricketers. The 22-year-old from Harare first made his mark at the 2022 Under-19 World Cup, finishing as Zimbabwe’s top run-getter with 273 runs in six matches at an average of 45.50. His rise through the senior ranks was swift, making his first-class debut as a concussion substitute in December 2022 before earning his T20I cap against Ireland in early 2023. Bennett announced himself at the international level with a maiden half-century of 70 off 49 balls against Bangladesh in May 2024, and his first-class record is equally impressive, highlighted by a magnificent unbeaten 264 off 259 balls for Mountaineers in February 2024. He earned his Test debut against Ireland in July 2024 and has since become a regular across all formats, with his aggressive strokeplay and ability to score quickly making him a key figure in Zimbabwe’s batting lineup. His twin brother David was also part of the Zimbabwe Under-19 World Cup squad in 2022.
