Ashwani Kumar is a promising left-arm medium-fast bowler from Punjab who announced himself on the biggest stage with a historic IPL debut. The 24-year-old from Jhanjeri, Mohali, was bought by Mumbai Indians for INR 30 lakh at the 2025 mega auction having impressed with his death bowling in the Sher E Punjab T20 competition. On his IPL debut against Kolkata Knight Riders, he struck with his very first ball, dismissing Ajinkya Rahane, before going on to claim the wickets of Manish Pandey, Rinku Singh, and Andre Russell, becoming the first Indian to take a four-wicket haul on IPL debut.
