LSG Bolster Backroom Staff, Appoint Carl Crowe as Spin Coach for IPL 2026

Carl Crowe

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have moved to strengthen their coaching setup ahead of the new season, appointing former England cricketer Carl Crowe as their new spin bowling coach for IPL 2026.

The franchise announced the addition on Tuesday, bringing in a highly respected T20 specialist to their high-profile support staff. Crowe joins LSG after a successful stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders, where he was part of the backroom team during their title-winning IPL 2024 campaign.

The 50-year-old is known for his innovative coaching methods, which include unique net sessions designed to improve a bowler’s control under pressure. He brings a wealth of experience from various global T20 leagues, including the Big Bash League and the T20 Blast.

Crowe’s appointment further strengthens an already impressive coaching roster under Cricket Director Tom Moody. The LSG setup now includes Justin Langer as Head Coach, Lance Klusener as Assistant Coach, Bharat Arun as Bowling Coach, and Kane Williamson as Strategic Advisor.

This strategic hiring comes as LSG prepare for the IPL 2026 mini-auction with a settled core squad, led by captain Rishabh Pant and featuring key overseas players like Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh. With a purse of INR 22.95 crore remaining, the franchise will look to build a balanced squad capable of mounting a serious title challenge in the upcoming season.
