IPL 2026 Playoff Race Gets Crazy! Who Will Reach the Final Four?
After 59 matches, the IPL 2026 playoff race has become more exciting than ever. Surprisingly, no team has officially qualified yet. Every remaining match can completely change the points table and the top four race.
Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants are already out of the tournament. But the other eight teams are still fighting for a playoff spot. Some teams only need one more win, while others now depend on different match results to survive.
RCB Very Close to Qualification
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are currently at the top of the table with 16 points and a strong net run rate of +1.053. They have been excellent this season, especially at home where they won six out of seven matches.
RCB now need just one more win from their remaining two matches to almost confirm a playoff spot. If they reach 20 points, they will also secure a top-two finish.
However, if RCB lose both matches and other teams win their games, they can still be eliminated. But because of their strong net run rate, RCB are still in one of the safest positions right now.
Gujarat Titans Looking Strong
Gujarat Titans are also on 16 points and are currently enjoying a five-match winning streak. They only need one more win to move very close to qualification.
GT have a strong record against KKR and can become the first team to officially qualify if they beat them. Just like RCB, reaching 20 points will confirm a top-two finish for Gujarat.
But if GT lose both their remaining matches, they can also be knocked out depending on other results. The playoff race is that close this season.
SRH Have Momentum on Their Side
Sunrisers Hyderabad are sitting comfortably with 14 points. Winning both remaining matches will guarantee them a playoff spot.
Even if they win only one match, SRH still have a strong chance to qualify depending on other teams’ results. Their good net run rate also gives them an advantage in case teams finish on equal points.
SRH have looked balanced this season with both batters and bowlers performing at important moments.
PBKS Still Alive Despite Poor Form
Punjab Kings started the season brilliantly but then lost five matches in a row. Because of this poor run, their playoff hopes have become complicated.
PBKS can still qualify if they win both remaining games and finish with 17 points. Even 15 points may keep them alive, but then they will depend heavily on other results.
If they continue losing, their season will end quickly.
Rajasthan Royals Have a Big Opportunity
Rajasthan Royals still have three matches left, and the good thing for them is that all three are against teams already out of the tournament.
If RR win all three games, they will reach 18 points and comfortably qualify. They can even fight for a top-two finish.
RR can also qualify with 16 points if other results go in their favour. Their playoff chances are still very strong compared to many other teams.
CSK’s Fate No Longer in Their Hands
Chennai Super Kings suffered a big blow after losing to Lucknow Super Giants. That defeat pushed them down to sixth place and damaged their net run rate badly.
Now CSK not only need to win their remaining matches, but they also need other teams to lose. Their qualification hopes are still alive, but things are no longer fully under their control.
CSK can still reach 16 points, but net run rate could become very important in the final standings.
KKR Need a Miracle Now
Kolkata Knight Riders still have three home matches left, which gives them some hope. But their maximum possible points are only 15, making qualification very difficult.
KKR now need to win almost every game and also pray for multiple teams like PBKS, RR, and CSK to lose their matches.
Even if KKR finish on 13 or 15 points, net run rate may decide their future.
Delhi Capitals Hanging by a Thread
Delhi Capitals are in the toughest situation among all remaining teams. Their poor net run rate of -0.993 has made things extremely difficult.
DC must win both remaining matches to stay alive. Even after that, they will depend on many other match results.
Because of their weak net run rate, Delhi are almost out if teams finish level on points.
Who Looks Favourite for the Playoffs?
At the moment, RCB and Gujarat Titans look closest to qualification. SRH and Rajasthan Royals also have strong chances because of their current form and remaining fixtures.
CSK, KKR, PBKS, and DC still have hope, but they now need help from other teams and results.
The IPL 2026 playoff race is now entering its most exciting stage, where every ball and every run can change the entire table.
