CSK Files Official Complaint Against RCB’s Stadium DJ, Watch Video!

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have lodged a formal complaint with the BCCI, alleging they were “undermined and insulted” during their IPL 2026 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 5.

According to a report in The Indian Express, CSK took strong exception when the stadium DJ played the viral track ‘Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney, chutney’, a song composed by Gana Appu that has become synonymous with memes around South Indian stereotypes. The franchise deemed the timing and context of the song’s usage as highly inappropriate.

A top IPL official confirmed that the governing council “has received a complaint from CSK and is looking into it.”

The song had gone viral last year when Jitesh Sharma was seen singing it, after which he faced trolling from CSK fans. At that time, the Chennai franchise had intervened to ensure no such remarks were directed at opposition players.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed the development, adding that the complaint also included concerns over certain comments allegedly made about Chennai players during the match. “The DJs are usually there to support the home team. But at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, it was different. Certain comments were made against our players. Considering that, we have written to the BCCI to look into it,” he said.

Viswanathan noted there had been no repeat of such incidents after the Jitesh episode until the April 5 game. “The DJ isn’t supposed to make comments on opposition players. Moreover, we are fortunate to have a lovely fanbase that supports us in large numbers.”

CSK also took exception to some of the DJ’s remarks following dismissals of their players. “They are not there to undermine rivals or insult them,” a CSK official said.

Chennai lost that match against RCB, who are currently top of the table with four wins in five matches. CSK, after three consecutive defeats to start the season, have bounced back with two successive home wins and will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18.
