CSK Fans Want Dinesh Karthik as Next Head Coach After Tough IPL Season

Chennai Super Kings had a season to forget. They finished seventh in IPL 2026 after losing their last two matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans. This poor finish has got fans talking about a possible change in the coaching staff.

I’m seeing so many suggestions for new Head Coach for CSK. Why not DK? Once he finishes this cycle with RCB in 2027, get him ahead of the 2028 Mega Auctions with an offer he can’t refuse.

Stephen Fleming has been CSK’s head coach since 2009. Under him, the team won five IPL titles. But after this season, some fans feel it is time for a fresh face.

Many CSK supporters are now pushing for Dinesh Karthik to take over as head coach. Karthik is currently the batting coach of Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He played a key role in RCB’s title win in 2025.

Fans have several reasons for backing Karthik-

• He was born in Chennai and knows the city’s cricket culture well
• He has experience coaching young players
• He understands the Chepauk pitch conditions after playing there for years

RCB Fans Push Back

But RCB fans are not happy with this idea. They point out that Karthik helped their team win a title. They feel he is loyal to RCB and should stay there.

Other Names in the Mix

Some fans also suggested other possible options. These include off-spinner Ravi Ashwin, who has captained in the IPL before, and former Tamil Nadu opener Abhinav Mukund.

For now, CSK have not made any official statement about Fleming’s future or Karthik’s possible role. But the debate among fans is only getting louder.
