How to Heal in Windrose

How to Heal in Windrose

Surviving in Windrose can be difficult, since enemies hit with great strength, you lose stamina quickly and can be killed quickly by being surrounded. The healing process is much more than just carrying items; it’s about proper preparation, positioning, and understanding when to attack and/or run away from a situation.

This guide will provide you with all the information you need to know regarding how to heal in Windrose. You will learn about every type of healing method that has been successful and how to use each method correctly.

Craft and Use Bandages the Right Way

In the beginning, bandages are your main healing tool. You can create them from 1 Coarse Fiber at the Workbench. Coarse Fiber is made by turning 1 Plant Fiber (which drops when you cut down bushes or other plants) into 1 Coarse Fiber. Because you’ll constantly be collecting plants, they’re cheap and easy to create a lot of them.

Bandages will heal 900 Health over 30 seconds, but if you receive damage at any time during that 30 second period, you will not heal anything from that bandage. So using a bandage during combat, in a chaotic environment, isn’t a good plan.

So the smart way to use bandages is after combat has ended or when you’re at a safe enough distance from your enemies. Make sure you put something in between you and your enemies that breaks line of sight, get somewhere safe to heal, or clear 1 opponent before trying to heal. These are meant to be recovered resources, not emergency resources.

At the beginning of the game, bandages are your main source of health recovery. Make sure you have a stack on you at all times.

Build Bonfires and Use Food Before Every Fight

Bonfires act like a safety net, whereas bandages are like an on-the-run medic; A bonfire can be built anywhere on an island; if you are close to one, your health is being regened slowly, and if you take a hit while standing near it, your regeneration will continue. This alone makes bonfires extremely good.

When going to a pirate lair or camp, build a bonfire in the area as well; if anything goes wrong, you’ll have somewhere to retreat. Use this along with putting up a tent to give you a checkpoint to respawn at for their future use after they are dead.

Food is also a necessity, not just like bandages. Having food before you fight will increase your HP as well as give you buffed effects. It is possible to have 2 types of food buff active at once; this means you will start with a greater health pool for your fight.

You can get coconuts from a beach/lagoon, or you can use a cooking fire to cook dodo broth using coastal dodo meat. Always eat before going anyplace; if you go fight without buffs for food, your HP will be much less and more fragile.

In Windrose, preparation is half of the total healing you will receive.

Potions, Rally Healing, and Stamina Control

You’ll find that when you complete missions you’ll unlock increased healing with some of the potions that you will create using ingredients at the Alchemy Table. The ingredients include clays or types of plants found on various islands which means that you won’t always have the option to create them right away. Therefore, you should visit the doctor in your base camp every day and get a free basic healing potion from him each time. All of these potions can add up very fast!

In a combat scenario, potions provide you with stronger and more reliable healings than bandages do (when fighting longer).

There’s also a second system that many people are not aware of, which happens to be a hidden feature in regards to healing. If you get hit, you can counter the other player’s attack right away by attacking quickly back at them.

This will help to restore a portion of the health you just lost. The faster you counter, the more health you can recover! In this way, if you directly attack your opponent with an aggressive stance, the more successful your rally-style will be! Additionally, if you are using a weapon that has a bleeding ability against your opponent, you will be able to maximize your rally styles during longer encounters.

Last but not least, monitor your endurance while you are playing! If your endurance goes into the red, then it will recover significantly slower; this means that it is going to be significantly harder to dodge, block, or find a safe time to heal. You can improve your overall comfort level, which would give you a Well Rested buff, to help increase the rate at which you regain stamina, thereby indirectly improving all of the ways you have to heal.

In Windrose, survival depends on layering everything together; for example, you should eat something before a battle, have Bonfires placed near places of danger so you can rest there if needed, carry Bandages for healing, stock up on daily potions, and will hit back fast once you have received damage. With all these actions in place, the brutal combat will be much more bearable than without them.
