How to Get Executioner in Windrose

How to Get Executioner in Windrose

The Executioner is one of the best tools you can get early in Windrose if you’re going for a big melee build. It has starting stats of 100 ATK and has an increasing Rage effect as you aggressively play that increases the likelihood of being able to hit critical when using the weapon. The great thing about this weapon is that you can use it as soon as you find it rather than waiting for the end of the game.

There are two ways to acquire the Executioner in Windrose. Either craft it once you hit the right progression rank, or loot it from a shipwreck while doing the main quest I Need a Bigger Boat. Here’s all the information needed.

Executioner Stats and Why It’s Strong

In general, executioners are a rare form of a weapon used for players that prefer slower (heavier) types of swings over faster (lighter) types as mentioned above.

Executioner Overview

  • Type: Halberd
  • Rarity: Rare
  • Base Attack: 100
  • Item Level: 1
  • Effect: Cross kills provide additional ‘Rage’ or rage stacks after ‘combat kill.’
  • Bonus: Each one will provide 10% more chance of getting crit + 30% max as long as you have stacked three (3) times.

The ‘rage’ mechanic is what makes the executioner one of the deadliest weapons! Once you’ve already killed three (3) enemies, you will now have a 30% crit chance! This build-up can happen at a very quick rate, especially in tight spaces or during ‘wave’ fights, and can quickly make the executioner a devastating damage dealer in your hands.

The trade-off in using an executioner as a weapon is the rate of your weapon’s speed of swinging and the need to control the distance from an enemy to a player to avoid being killed, most likely as an executioner. Executioners are far more hard-hitting and longer-ranged than any other type of weapon; it just feels ‘great!’

How to Craft the Executioner

Crafting is a safer way to obtain the Executioner, but you have to progress first.

In order to craft the Executioner in Windrose, you need to be an Islander. Once you achieve Islander rank, you will unlock your ability to use the Weaponsmith Workshop where you can craft melee weapons.

Requirements for Crafting

  • 10 Wood
  • 7 Copper Ingots

Wood can be easily gathered by exploring all of the islands; however, the Copper Ingot must be made by smelting the Copper Ore, which can also be found while scavenging.

  1. Once you gather the materials you need
  2. Unlock the Weaponsmith Workshop
  3. Interact with the Weaponsmith Workshop
  4. Select the Executioner from the list and craft it
  5. Equip the Executioner

If you are looking for a guaranteed and steady progression as you acquire the Executioner, this is a great option.

How to Find the Executioner in the Shipwreck

To find the Executioner more quickly, complete the first main mission “I Need a Bigger Boat,” with a boat you made in the game.

During this mission, you must investigate both surviving boats and shipwrecks. There are many shipwrecks and boats located in the main shipwrecks found along the north and west edges of the island north of the northwestern tip of the island.

Instructions

Once you get the mission “I Need a Bigger Boat” from the main story, you can find the Executioner by:

  1. Taking your boat to sea and sailing to one of the shipwrecks found on the western edge of the island.
  2. Find “Decrepit Chest after getting to the wreck, which should contain the Executioner.
  3. Prepare for combat; if you draw more than one enemy, you may find yourself overwhelmed by Thorn and Storm Fiddlers. Do not rush into groups; pull one enemy at a time if you wish to defeat them easily.

Either way, the Executioner is one of the most impactful early upgrades in Windrose. If you are confident in sea travel and combat positioning, grabbing it during I Need a Bigger Boat is absolutely worth the risk.
