West Indies Hand Call-ups to Da Silva and Jangoo as Josephs Return for Sri Lanka Tests
The West Indies have named a strong squad for their upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka at home. Experienced wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva and batter Amir Jangoo have earned recalls, while the pace duo of Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph are back after missing recent tours due to injuries.
Da Silva, who has played 33 Tests, returns to the side after a strong domestic season. He scored 413 runs in the West Indies Championship. He takes the place of Tevin Imlach, who struggled with the bat in New Zealand, scoring only 81 runs in six innings. Imlach will now lead a West Indies Select XI in a warm-up match against the Sri Lankans.
Jangoo, who played only one Test in January 2025, also returns after an impressive season. He scored 411 runs in seven innings, including a brilliant 203 not out for Trinidad & Tobago.
The two Josephs, Alzarri and Shamar, are back in the Test squad. Both missed the tours of India and New Zealand late last year because of injuries. Their last Test appearance was against Australia in mid-2025.
Head coach Daren Sammy is excited about the challenge ahead. “Every Test series is an opportunity for us to grow as a team,” he said. “Sri Lanka are a quality side, so we know we’ll have to be at our best.”
Sammy also stressed the importance of preparation. The squad is currently at a high-performance camp in Antigua. A four-day warm-up match is also planned before the Tests begin.
Series Schedule
1st Test: June 25–29, North Sound
2nd Test: July 3–7, North Sound
West Indies are currently at the bottom of the World Test Championship table, having lost seven of their eight games in this cycle. This series gives them a chance to turn things around.
