Shafali Verma is a powerhouse opening batter who burst onto the international scene as a 15-year-old, bringing raw aggression and fearless strokeplay to the Indian women’s team. The 22-year-old from Rohtak, Haryana, quickly became the youngest Indian to play a T20I and the youngest to score an international half-century, before rising to become the world’s No. 1-ranked T20I batter ahead of the 2020 T20 World Cup final. Her Test career has been equally impressive, missing a century on debut against England in 2021 before smashing a double century against South Africa in 2024. In 2023, Shafali captained India to victory in the inaugural Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup and was signed for INR 2 crore by Delhi Capitals in the first WPL auction. After being dropped from the ODI squad ahead of the 2025 World Cup, she made a stunning comeback in the semi-final, delivering a Player-of-the-Match performance in the final against South Africa with 87 runs and two wickets, proving her ability to rise to the occasion when it matters most.
