Usman Khawaja is a classy left-handed top order batter who has become one of Australia’s most respected cricketers. Born in Islamabad, Pakistan, he moved to Australia as a young boy and went on to make history as the first Muslim to play for Australia when he made his Test debut in the 2011 Ashes series. Known for his patience and calm style at the crease, Khawaja had to work hard over many years to secure his place in the team. His career had ups and downs, but he never gave up. The most remarkable comeback came in 2022 when he returned to the Test side, scored back-to-back centuries, and was named Player of the Series on the historic tour to Pakistan, his country of birth. He has also played T20 cricket around the world, including in the IPL for Rising Pune Supergiants and in the Big Bash League where he led Sydney Thunder to a title.
