Father - Namboori Nagaraju, Mother - Gayatri Devi
Tilak Varma is a young left-handed batter from Hyderabad who has already earned high praise from Indian cricket legends. When he was just 19, Rohit Sharma said he would soon play all formats for India. That tells you how good his technique and shot-making really are.
Tilak’s journey was not easy. His father did not have enough money for private coaching. But his first coach, Salam Bayash, stepped in and covered his fees and equipment costs. That support kept Tilak in the game.
He made his first-class debut for Hyderabad in 2018 and played the Under-19 World Cup in 2020. His strong performances in domestic T20s caught the attention of IPL teams. Mumbai Indians bought him in 2022, and he became a key player right away. He made his T20I debut for India in 2023, hitting two sixes off his first few balls in international cricket. A couple of hand injuries in 2024 slowed him down, but his talent remains clear.
