Rajasthan Royals head coach Justin Langer was full of praise for young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after another match-winning knock against Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday. The teenager smashed 93 runs off just 38 balls to help his team chase down 221 in Jaipur.

Langer called Sooryavanshi’s batting “breathtaking” and said it was a real privilege to watch him play.

“We have seen it all season. He is the leading run scorer. In all my 35 years of cricket, I have seen some amazing players. But to see a young man bat like that is breathtaking,” Langer said.

The former Australia opener believes Sooryavanshi will only get better with time. Langer pointed out that even world-class bowlers like Mitchell Starc and Anrich Nortje looked clueless against him.

“The scary thing is, what happens when he learns how to bat properly? He is so young. He is a brilliant player. It is a real privilege to watch him bat,” he added.

Royals captain Riyan Parag also praised the youngster, calling this his best innings yet. Parag noted how Sooryavanshi started slowly but then showed great understanding of the game.

Langer went a step further and backed the youngster to succeed in any conditions around the world. He compared him to the legendary Don Bradman, saying great players always find a way to adapt.

Langer also expressed his happiness over Prince Yadav getting a call-up to the Indian national team. He called Prince a brilliant person with high skill and high character.

On the other hand, Langer admitted that his team LSG has had an inconsistent season. He said they have been on the wrong side of too many close games and that is why they are at the bottom of the table.
