CSK – RR in Final Talk for Historic Swap of Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson
As the IPL retention deadline approaches, the IPL market is heating up again. The player who is being talked about the most is none other than Rajasthan Royals’ star batter Sanju Samson. He has decided to part ways with the Royals after the 2025 edition of the IPL, and this could result in a trade or his entering the auction pool.
But as per the latest reports, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are in the final stages of trading Sanju Samson ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. According to media reports, both franchises are “seriously considering” the deal at this stage, but the deal is yet to be finalised as the Royals are not happy with a straight swap and want another player along with Ravindra Jadeja in place of Samson.
Since both Jadeja and Samson were retained by their respective franchises for Rs 18 crore, a straight swap seemed likely, but the Royals were keen on adding another player, and that name is Dewald Brevis. The Royals had high hopes for a deal. However, CSK is adamant about only offering Jadeja as part of the trade, and no other player.
The talks between the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals seem to be gaining momentum. However, while CSK was not at all ready to give away Dewald Brevis in the trade, according to new media reports, Sanju Samson is now set to join CSK, while Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran are expected to play for Rajasthan. Let us remind you that Ravindra Jadeja started his IPL career with the Rajasthan Royals in 2008, when they won the title in the inaugural season of the IPL. There is a high possibility of seeing CSK & RR trade IPL 2026 to be complete soon.
Some franchises, including Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders, are still waiting for the final decision from Chennai Super Kings. All three franchises are interested in acquiring Sanju Samson after talks with the Delhi Capitals failed earlier this week.
