Tridents Roll Amazon Warriors for 99 to Book Eliminator Date with Kingsmen

Barbados Tridents produced the most complete bowling performance of their CPL 2026 campaign on Sunday, dismantling table-toppers Guyana Amazon Warriors for just 99 to seal a six-wicket victory and a place in the Eliminator against Jamaica Kingsmen.

The result left the league standings untouched. Amazon Warriors finished the group stage at No. 1, followed by Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, with Tridents third and Kingsmen fourth. Amazon Warriors will meet Falcons in Qualifier 1, while Tridents and Kingsmen contest the Eliminator. All remaining playoff fixtures, including both of those matches, will be played in Bridgetown.

Ghazanfar’s Over Turns the Match

Tridents chose to field, and the decision paid off almost immediately. Player-of-the-Match AM Ghazanfar delivered a third over that effectively decided the contest. He had Mavendra Dindyal stumped by Quinton de Kock off the third ball, removed Shai Hope caught off a loose stroke to a harmless delivery on the fifth, and claimed Shimron Hetmyer via an inside edge to de Kock on the sixth.

Amazon Warriors finished that over at 15 for 3. They never recovered. The powerplay yielded just 30 for 3, and the innings never found a platform.

Phillips Alone in the Fight

Glenn Phillips, opening the batting, held firm until the eighth over but managed only 24 from 23 deliveries before George Linde ended his resistance. Linde was the most economical of the attack, returning 2 for 13 from his four overs, and Phillips’ score remained the highest of an innings that offered no meaningful partnerships.

Johann Layne matched Ghazanfar’s contribution with 3 for 14, and the innings folded in 18.1 overs, the three-pronged seam and spin attack of Ghazanfar, Linde and Layne accounting for eight wickets between them.

King Seals It Without Alarm

A target of 100 was never likely to trouble Tridents, and Brandon King ensured there was no stumble. The opener anchored the chase with an unbeaten 44 from 42 balls, holding the innings together even as Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed two wickets to take his tally to nine from just three games.

King found capable support in Shadrack Descarte, the pair adding 41 in 30 balls for the fifth wicket before Descartes fell for 32 from 20 deliveries. King and Kevlon Anderson saw the job through from there, crossing the line in 14.5 overs.

For Amazon Warriors, the defeat carries little consequence beyond momentum. They remain top of the table and will contest Qualifier 1 against Falcons, with a direct route to the final still available. For Tridents, the manner of the win sends a clearer message: their bowling attack, on its day, can dismantle the best the tournament has to offer.
