Record Breaking Day In the VHT: Ishan Kishan, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Sakibul Gani Smashed Fastest Century in List A Cricket
Today was a record-breaking day for batsmen in the Indian domestic cricket tournament Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT). Usually a record is broken only once in a long time, but today the opposite happened and the same record was broken three times in a row.
In Bihar’s Plate Group match against Arunachal Pradesh being played in Ranchi today, Vaibhav Suryavanshi completed his brilliant century in just 36 balls, with this he became the youngest player to score a century in List A cricket and this century was also the second fastest in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Suryavanshi did not stop there, he scored 190 runs in 84 balls in his innings. But later in the same innings, Bihar captain Sakibul Gani performed another amazing feat. He batted even more charismatically and reached his century in just 32 balls, breaking Anmolpreet Singh’s record for the fastest century, which he had achieved in 35 balls in this tournament last year. Sakibul Ghani remained not out in his innings and scored 128 runs in 40 balls which included 10 fours and 12 sixes where his strike rate was 320.

Bihar also set a world record for the highest total in List A cricket. Bihar scored 574 runs in 50 overs for the loss of 6 wickets.
Apart from all this, Ishan Kishan, who recently won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Jharkhand for the first time, also displayed his tremendous form by playing a brilliant innings.
Kishan, batting for Jharkhand, scored a century in 33 balls in the Elite Group A match against Karnataka in Ahmedabad. In his innings, he surpassed both Anmolpreet Singh and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, while falling short of Sakibul Gani’s record by one ball to move to second place in the list of fastest centuries in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. With his brilliant innings, Jharkhand posted a huge total of 412 runs in the first innings, which will be very difficult for Karnataka to chase.

Ishan Kishan and Sakibul Gani not only became the fastest century-makers in Indian domestic cricket, but also secured the third and fourth spots in the list of fastest List A centuries in the world. Jake Fraser-McGurk, who played for South Australia against Tasmania, holds the world record for the fastest hundred in List A cricket, completing his century in 29 balls. While all-time legend AB de Villiers completed his century in 31 balls against the West Indies, which still keeps him in second place.
