India Set for Landmark 12-Match Tour of New Zealand in Historic 2026/27 Home Summer
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has unveiled a bumper home summer schedule for 2026/27, headlined by a historic 12-match multi-format tour by India—the biggest inbound tour in terms of matches in New Zealand’s cricket history.
The series will span five T20Is, five ODIs, and two Tests across New Zealand’s five major centres, beginning on October 22. The two Tests will be played at the Cello Basin Reserve in Wellington and Hagley Oval in Christchurch, scheduled after the white-ball leg.

India haven’t toured New Zealand since the 2019/20 season, although New Zealand have visited India twice in the interim including their historic 3-0 Test whitewash on Indian soil in 2024/25.
The five-match ODI series carries special significance, as it offers New Zealand fans a rare opportunity to see Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in action the only format the two white-ball greats have not retired from. With the ODI World Cup scheduled for next year, the series will serve as ideal preparation for both teams.
In the shortest format, India and New Zealand last faced each other in the T20 World Cup final earlier this year. New Zealand had toured India for eight white-ball games at the start of the year, winning the ODI series 2-1 but losing the T20I leg 4-1.
NZC Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer Glenn Critchley expressed excitement about the historic tour: “When it comes to cricket—it simply doesn’t get bigger than India… This will be about more than just the cricket on the field—it will be a celebration of New Zealand’s shared history and culture with India, and our burgeoning rivalry and friendship through cricket.”
Following the India series, New Zealand’s men will tour Australia for four Tests before hosting Sri Lanka for another full series. Meanwhile, the women’s team will host Bangladesh for three T20Is and three ODIs.
