Australia Ring Changes for England Series as Pace Trio Rested
Cricket Australia has recalled Mahli Beardman to both limited-overs squads for the upcoming home series against England, rewarding the 21-year-old seamer for his performances on the recent Australia A tour of India.
Beardman last featured for Australia in a solitary ODI in January 2026 and is yet to make his T20I debut. His inclusion spans both the three-match ODI series and the five-match T20I series, a signal that the selectors view him as a multi-format prospect.

Jack Edwards, Spencer Johnson and Liam Scott have also been recalled to the ODI squad. The veteran pace trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood were not considered, having been given a short de-load following the three-Test tour of South Africa. They will instead begin preparations for 10 consecutive Test matches at home and in India.
Fraser-McGurk and Shaw Earn T20I Nods
Jake Fraser-McGurk returns to the T20I squad, having last played for Australia in July 2025. Lachlan Shaw has earned his maiden national call-up on the back of strong performances on the Australia A tour of India and in the BBL. Nathan Ellis, recovering from a side strain, will miss the ODIs but has been included in the T20I squad.
The workload of Travis Head, Matthew Renshaw, Josh Inglis, Cooper Connolly and Cameron Green will be managed through the T20 series, following long tours to Zimbabwe and South Africa. All five are being prepared for the New Zealand Test series and the subsequent five Tests in India.
Bailey Explains the Balancing Act
George Bailey, chair of selectors, framed the series as an opportunity for fringe players and a necessary measure for the multi-format regulars.
“These ODI and T20 matches provide several players, many of whom have had opportunities on recent tours, with a great chance to further demonstrate their ability against very strong opposition,” Bailey said.
Both squads will be captained by Mitchell Marsh.
