Alex Carey is Australia’s first-choice wicketkeeper batter, known for his calm head and reliable hands behind the stumps. Before cricket, he had a unique career path. He was the first ever captain of the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the AFL. But when his football journey ended around age 20, he turned fully to cricket. Carey made his Test debut during the 2021-22 Ashes, taking eight catches in his very first match. He scored his maiden Test century in December 2022 against South Africa, a stylish 111. That was the first Test hundred by an Australian wicketkeeper in nearly ten years. He is also a key player for the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League, where he holds the record for most wicketkeeping dismissals in the team’s history.
