IPL 2025: RCB Swaps Bethell for Seifert as Playoff Push Intensifies

Bethell for Seifert

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have pulled off a strategic squad move, signing New Zealand’s Tim Seifert to replace Jacob Bethell, who is set to leave for national duties after RCB’s clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 24. Bethell, having featured in just two games this IPL season, will join England’s white-ball squad for their series against West Indies, paving the way for Seifert to step into the RCB lineup.

The 30-year-old Seifert, a seasoned wicketkeeper-batsman, brings a fiery T20 record with 5,862 runs in 262 matches at a strike rate of 133.07. No stranger to the IPL, he debuted with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2021 and played for Delhi Capitals in 2022. Signed for INR 2 crore, Seifert will be available for RCB’s final league match against Lucknow Super Giants on May 27 and any playoff games, adding depth and dynamism to their campaign.

As RCB chase their maiden IPL title in a tightly contested 2025 season, Seifert’s explosive batting and wicketkeeping skills could be a game-changer. With the playoffs on the horizon, fans are buzzing with anticipation to see how the Kiwi star bolsters RCB’s quest for glory.
