Varun Chakravarthy is a leg-spinner who bowls the googly, one of the trickiest deliveries in cricket. He was born in Bidar, Karnataka, and is currently 34 years old. Varun is not your typical cricketer. He started as a wicketkeeper-batter, then became a bowler, and before all that, he even worked as an architect. He made it big in the IPL after impressing in Tamil Nadu domestic cricket and the TNPL. Kings XI Punjab bought him first, but his real success came with Kolkata Knight Riders. Since joining KKR in 2020, Varun has been their top wicket-taker in multiple seasons. He was key to their IPL title win in 2024, taking 21 wickets. He has now been retained by KKR for big money ahead of the 2025 and 2026 seasons. Varun also made his debut for the Indian cricket team.
