England | Bowler
Father: Ian Baker, Brother: Blaise Baker
Sonny Baker is a promising young fast bowler from Devon whose hooping inswingers have marked him out as one of English cricket’s most exciting pace prospects. The 23-year-old first gained recognition with England Under-19s in 2021, and despite injury ruling him out of the World Cup early the following year, he quickly rebounded to make history in 2022 as the first player to make his professional T20 debut in the Hundred, representing Southern Brave. His potential was further underscored by a six-wicket haul for Somerset in the 2022 Royal London Cup, showcasing his ability to dismantle batting lineups. Educated at Torquay Boys’ Grammar School and King’s College, Taunton, Baker has steadily progressed through the Somerset system and has also represented England A. With his sharp pace and ability to generate significant swing, he remains a developing talent with a bright future in English cricket.
