Rahmanullah Gurbaz is an explosive wicketkeeper-batter who has become one of Afghanistan’s most destructive players across all formats. The 24-year-old made his List A debut at just 15 and has since established himself as a fearsome opener, known for his fast glovework behind the stumps and brutal power in front of them. His international breakthrough came in 2021 when he became the first Afghan batter to score a century on ODI debut, and he has never looked back. Gurbaz’s 2023 was particularly memorable, with scores of 145 and 151 in ODIs against Bangladesh and Pakistan in a two-month period, followed by his maiden T20I century against UAE. He was instrumental in Afghanistan’s historic run to the 2024 T20 World Cup semi-finals, finishing as the tournament’s highest run-scorer. A globetrotting T20 franchise star, Gurbaz has won the IPL twice with different franchises and has featured in leagues across the world, cementing his reputation as one of the most exciting batters in the game.
