Mayank Markande is a leg-spinner who burst onto the IPL scene with a dream debut, dismissing MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu in his very first match for Mumbai Indians in 2018. The 28-year-old from Bathinda, Punjab, made an instant impact, playing all 14 games that season and finishing with 15 wickets on the challenging flat tracks of Wankhede Stadium. While his journey has seen him move between franchises, including stints with Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Markande has consistently shown his wicket-taking ability, with his most productive period coming for SRH in 2023 where he picked up 12 economical wickets. A product of Mumbai Indians’ scouting system, he has now returned to his original franchise for the 2026 season, looking to recapture the form that made him one of the most promising young spinners in the tournament.
