Maheesh Theekshana is a Sri Lankan mystery spinner who has rapidly become one of the most sought-after bowlers in franchise cricket worldwide. The 25-year-old from Colombo, educated at St. Benedict’s College, first gained prominence with his exceptional performances in the Lanka Premier League, where his 16 wickets for champions Jaffna Kings in 2021 caught the attention of IPL scouts. Chennai Super Kings picked him up for INR 70 lakh in 2022, and he delivered 12 wickets in his debut season at an impressive economy rate. Known for his carrom ball and subtle variations that make him difficult to read, Theekshana has since represented multiple franchises across the globe, including the Joburg Super Kings in SA20, Sharjah Warriors in ILT20, and Barbados Royals in the CPL. After being released by CSK, Rajasthan Royals snapped him up for INR 4.4 crore at the 2025 mega auction. A key member of Sri Lanka’s white-ball setup, Theekshana’s ability to bowl in the powerplay and death overs makes him a complete T20 spinner.

He is a right-arm off-spin bowler known for his mystery variations, particularly the carrom ball, which makes him difficult for batters to read.
He has represented two IPL franchises: Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who picked him in 2022, and Rajasthan Royals (RR), who bought him for INR 4.4 crore in the 2025 mega auction.
In his debut IPL season in 2022, he took 12 wickets at an impressive average and economy rate for Chennai Super Kings.
He made his debut for Sri Lanka in 2021 and has since become a regular member of their white-ball setup.
