Father: Alistair Campbell
Johnathan Campbell is a left-handed batting allrounder from Zimbabwe who comes from one of the country’s most distinguished cricketing families. The 28-year-old from Harare, son of former Zimbabwe captain Alistair Campbell, made an immediate impact on the international stage, scoring 45 off 24 balls on his T20I debut against Bangladesh in May 2024—the highest score by a Zimbabwe batter on men’s T20I debut. His domestic breakthrough came in the 2023-24 Logan Cup for Southern Rocks, where he had a bumper season with 675 runs in six matches at an average of 61.36, including four centuries, earning him a call-up to the senior Zimbabwe squad. Campbell’s useful leg-spin adds another dimension to his game, making him a genuine allrounder. He made his Test debut in July 2024 against Ireland, capping a remarkable rise through Zimbabwean cricket after first appearing in Afghanistan’s Shpageeza League as a 20-year-old.
