Afghanistan | Wicket keeper Batter
Father: Faizi Alikhil, Mother: Zainab
Ikram Alikhil is a left-handed wicketkeeper-batter from Afghanistan who first captured attention with a match-winning century in the 2017 Under-19 Asia Cup final against Pakistan, securing Afghanistan’s first U-19 Asia Cup title. The 25-year-old made his Test and ODI debuts in 2019, and while his early ODI returns were modest, he announced himself on the world stage with a fighting 86 against West Indies in the 2019 ODI World Cup. His most memorable international knock came in the 2023 ODI World Cup, where his 58 from No. 6 helped Afghanistan secure a famous victory over England in Delhi. Alikhil has been a reliable presence in Afghanistan’s middle order, with over 1,500 List A runs at an average of 29.35, including a century and nine half-centuries. While he has often played second fiddle to Rahmanullah Gurbaz as the preferred wicketkeeping option, Alikhil has proven his value as a pure batter, particularly in the 50-over format. His first-class record is equally impressive, with three centuries and a highest score of 142.
