South Africa | All Rounder
Wife: Anneke Linde, Sons: Georgie and Jean-Luc
George Linde is a versatile left-arm spinning allrounder from Cape Town who has built his career on adaptability, persistence, and the ability to deliver in crucial moments. The 34-year-old began as a seam-bowling schoolboy before switching to spin as a teenager, eventually developing into a bowler who can control the tempo in limited-overs cricket and a batter with a penchant for clearing the boundaries. After progressing through Western Province’s ranks, Linde made his Test debut for South Africa in 2019 in Ranchi as an injury replacement for Keshav Maharaj, and picked up a five-wicket haul in Pakistan two years later despite playing with a badly injured finger. He has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket, earning CSA’s four-day cricketer of the year award in 2020 and the men’s international newcomer of the year in 2021. Linde has also made his mark in franchise cricket, playing for MI Cape Town in the SA20 and being picked up by Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL. With coach Shukri Conrad favouring allrounders in the shortest format, Linde earned a spot in South Africa’s 2026 T20 World Cup squad, a testament to his enduring value across all formats.
