Dewald Brevis Player Profile

Dewald Brevis is a young right-handed batter from Johannesburg who has taken the cricket world by storm. Born in April 2003, he first grabbed everyone’s attention at the 2022 Under-19 World Cup, where he finished as the top run-scorer. That performance earned him a quick deal with the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Known as Baby AB early in his career because of his similarity to his hero AB de Villiers, Brevis has since worked hard to build his own name. He plays as an explosive middle-order batter and can also bowl legbreak. After playing for Mumbai Indians, he joined Chennai Super Kings in 2025 as a replacement player and made an immediate impact, scoring 225 runs in just six innings at a strike rate of 180. Brevis made his T20I debut for South Africa in 2023 and later earned his Test cap in 2025, scoring a fifty on debut against Zimbabwe.
