The Marathon Order/Chaos Contract is one of the early priority contracts you receive from Gantry, the MIDA liaison. It becomes available after finishing the previous MIDA task and sends you into Dire Marsh to sabotage UESC operations.
The Order/Chaos Contract consists of three major objectives. You will need to trigger alarms at two locations in Complex (for an additional objective); kill a Security Commander for their credentials and download encrypted data from the terminal located in the southern Maintenance area.
This is a step-by-step guide to help you complete the Marathon Order/Chaos Contract mission safely and efficiently.
Marathon Order/Chaos Contract Objectives
Before beginning the run, you will want to understand how you need to fulfil your contract. The mission has three objectives that must be accomplished in order during a single match.
The objectives are
- Trigger alarms in the south Complex by hacking a terminal.
- Acquire Security Commander credentials.
- Download data from the terminal located inside south Maintenance.
The game does not show you where these locations are during the run, and it is up to you to find them through descriptions and exploration, which is one reason why this contract is difficult for many people when they try it for the first time.
Order/Chaos Contract Rewards
You complete the mission then return to the Gantry area once you are done with the mission for different forms of contracts such as:
- Random enhanced equipment
- Random standard equipment
- Random materials
- 1500 credits
These awards will vary, but it is worthwhile to complete the contract before finishing your Level 1 as these contracts help unlock more things to do in MIDA by creating progression within the Order/Chaos contract line.
How to Trigger Alarms in South Complex

The first objective is in the complex located east side of Dire Marsh.
Pop up your map and head into the southern area of the Complex. You’re looking for a yellow NuCaloric Agriculture building with large letters above the top walkway that say CPLX-3.
Enter the building and walk to the basement. You should find a small office with a red terminal workstation, which is what you are trying to hack.
Before hacking the terminal, check for enemies in the surrounding area. Hacking the terminal will leave you exposed for a few seconds, making it easy for other players or AI to interrupt your hacking process.
Once the hack is completed the terminal will trigger alarms in the area. This will also activate your second objective.
How to Get Security Commander Credentials

After the terminal is compromised, a UESC dropship deposits markers of hostile entities into the facility. The Security Commander is one of these entities and is therefore one of your targets.
The location of the Security Commander will be displayed on your HUD as a pink diamond marker, allowing you to easily follow the Security Commander throughout the encounter.
The Security Commander possesses blue shields and has a much higher level of strength than the standard soldiers that spawn with it. However, your mid tier weapons should make this fight manageable. Often, the Security Commander can be defeated using two magazines from an SMG.
To control the fight, take advantage of the narrow corridors and cover available to you within the Complex. Being in open spaces will give the additional enemies more opportunities to overwhelm you and ultimately, defeat you.
After you’ve defeated the Security Commander, you will be able to collect the UESC Credentials that it drops. Collecting this item will satisfy the second objective of this mission.
Where to Download Data in South Maintenance

After you’ve gotten the credentials, you will travel long distances on the map; the destination is the Maintenance Section in the southwest corner of the Dire Marsh. Normally, if you take the southern edge of the map and stay out of heavy combat zones you should be fairly safe when traveling to Maintenance.
When you first enter Maintenance, you will want to find the large hangar building on the southernmost part of Maintenance. Upon entering the hangar, you will want to remain on the ground floor. Do not go up into the upper catwalks of the hangar.
Within the hangar you will find the terminal you are looking for located between two parked vehicles and other equipment on a workbench. Once you find the terminal, you will need to interact with the terminal to download the encrypted data.
Once you have completed the download, you have met all of the objectives for the Marathon Order/Chaos Contract.
