Taijul Six-Wicket Haul Helps Bangladesh Whitewash Pakistan Again

Bangladesh have done it again. They whitewashed Pakistan for the second time in a row with a 78 run win in the second Test on Wednesday (May 20). The hosts clinched the series 2-0.

Pakistan started the final day with a tough task. They had lost seven wickets and still needed 121 runs to win. Mohammad Rizwan was at the crease and looked solid. He got a lucky break early in the day and then hit two boundaries in a row off Nahid Rana to keep Pakistan’s hopes alive.

Sajid Khan then joined the attack. He also hit successive boundaries off Taskin Ahmed. The two batters put up a strong fight and raised a crucial half century partnership. Pakistan started dreaming of a win.

But Bangladesh knew that breaking this stand was the key. Taijul Islam delivered the breakthrough. He tossed one up and Sajid edged it to first slip. It was Taijul’s fifth wicket.

The big moment came in the very next over. Rizwan, who was playing so well, edged one to gully. He fell just six runs short of his century. That was the end of Pakistan’s resistance.

Bangladesh wrapped things up quickly after that. Taijul took his sixth wicket in the next over to finish the match.

This was Bangladesh’s fourth straight Test win against Pakistan. Litton Das was named player of the match for his brilliant century in the first innings. Mushfiqur Rahim took home the player of the series award.

Brief scores: Bangladesh 278 (Litton Das 126; Khurram Shahzad 4-81) & 390 (Mushfiqur Rahim 137; Khurram Shahzad 4-86) beat Pakistan 232 (Babar Azam 68; Nahid Rana 3-60) & 358 (Mohammad Rizwan 94; Taijul Islam 6-120) by 78 runs.
