Shreyanka Patil Stretchered Off After Scary Ankle Twist Against Netherlands

It was a moment that left Indian fans worried. Shreyanka Patil was stretchered off the field after a nasty fall during India’s match against Netherlands in Leeds.

The 24-year-old offspin all-rounder had just bowled her first ball of the game. It was the sixth over. Netherlands batter Phebe Molkenboer clipped the ball to the leg side. Shreyanka ran to stop the single. As she bent down to pick the ball, her right ankle twisted badly. She collapsed immediately.

The Indian physio rushed out. Shreyanka was in visible pain. She held her ankle and could not put any weight on her leg. After a few minutes, she was helped onto a stretcher and taken off the field on a cart. Shafali Verma completed the over, and Radha Yadav came in as a substitute fielder.

This is not the first time Shreyanka has dealt with injuries. She has had a tough run over the last two years. A finger fracture, shin splints, and a wrist stress reaction kept her out for long stretches. She only returned to full fitness in September 2025, playing in the Women’s CPL and then WPL for RCB.

This was India’s second match in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. They won their opener against Pakistan. The team now has important games coming up against South Africa, Bangladesh, and Australia. Losing Shreyanka would be a big blow to the bowling attack.
