PCB Appointed Former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed as Pakistan’s Head Coach for the Test Series against Bangladesh

The performance of the Pakistani Test team has not been good for the last few years and it has not even come close to reaching the finals in the two ICC World Test Championships held so far. In a bid to improve the performance in red-ball format, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a major announcement, appointing former Test captain Sarfraz Ahmed as the head coach for the upcoming two-Test match series against Bangladesh.

Sarfaraz, who led Pakistan to two ICC titles – the ICC Under-19 World Cup in 2006 and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017 – recently led the Pakistan Under-19 team to victory in the ACC Men’s Under-19 Asia Cup in December last year as a mentor/manager. Former Test cricketers Asad Shafiq and Umar Gul will serve as batting and bowling coaches, respectively, during the tour.

Pakistan will play two Test matches on the Bangladesh tour, the first of which will be played in Dhaka on the 8th and the second in Sylhet on the 16th. Shan Masood will once again be seen captaining the Pakistan side. Apart from this, Pakistan has also announced its squad for this tour in which they have also included four uncapped players Abdullah Fazal, Azan Awais, Ghazi Ghori and Amad Butt.
