Nitish Kumar Reddy Out of Ireland T20Is After Quad Injury Setback

Nitish Kumar Reddy

India have suffered a blow ahead of their T20I series against Ireland. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out with a quad injury.

The 23-year-old picked up the issue during the recent ODI series against Afghanistan. He tried to push through, but the injury flared up again. Now he has been forced to miss the two-match T20I series starting June 26 in Belfast.

Reddy was coming off a strong IPL 2026 season for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Many saw him as a solid backup for the injured Hardik Pandya. He can bat in the middle order and bowl at a useful pace. In T20Is so far, he has scored 90 runs and taken three wickets.

It is not just Reddy. Leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy is also out. That leaves the team a bit thin in both departments. Some fans are already suggesting replacements like Suryansh Shedge. The BCCI is also looking at possible squad tweaks ahead of the England games.

India needs a strong squad for the upcoming schedule. Losing a player like Reddy at this stage is not ideal. But injuries are part of the game. The selectors will now need to find the right replacement.
