Dwayne Bravo Named New Head Coach of Trinbago Knight Riders for CPL 2025
Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) have appointed former West Indies allrounder Dwayne Bravo as their new head coach for the 2025 Caribbean Premier League (CPL), set to take place from August 14 to September 21. Bravo steps into the role previously held by Phil Simmons, who has transitioned to coaching the Bangladesh men’s national team.
In a heartfelt social media post, Bravo expressed his excitement, stating, “It’s an honor to be given the opportunity to be Head Coach of TKR, a team that’s very close to my heart.” He also extended gratitude to Simmons for his dedication to TKR over the years, adding, “I look forward to this new challenge for me and my staff.”

Bravo brings a wealth of experience to the role. A CPL veteran, he played 107 matches between 2013 and 2024, claiming 129 wickets at an economy rate of 8.74. He represented TKR in nine of the league’s 11 seasons, contributing to five championship titles, including a 2021 victory with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. His coaching credentials are equally impressive, having served as head coach of Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20, a mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025, and a bowling consultant for Chennai Super Kings in 2023 and 2024 after retiring from playing for the franchise in 2022. Most recently, Bravo was the bowling consultant for Afghanistan at the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they reached the semi-finals before falling to South Africa.
The 13th edition of the CPL will see TKR aiming to improve on their 2024 performance, where they finished third but were eliminated by Barbados Royals in the Eliminator. With Bravo’s leadership and deep connection to the franchise, TKR fans are optimistic about a strong campaign in 2025.
