Kedar Jadhav Joins RSS Vijayadashami Parade in Pune

Pune: Former India cricketer Kedar Jadhav participated in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Vijayadashami parade in Pune, an appearance that drew sharply divided reactions across social media.

Jadhav, who retired from cricket in June 2024 after representing India in 73 ODIs and nine T20Is, wore the traditional RSS attire for the occasion. He marched with participants in a white shirt, khaki pants and black cap, carrying a staff. The former batter later shared photographs from the event on social media, framing the participation around themes of discipline, unity and nationalism.

The march follows Jadhav’s entry into the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2025. His political alignment has made him a figure of interest beyond the cricket field, and the response to his appearance at the parade reflected that polarisation.

Supporters praised his cultural commitment, with some framing the participation as a demonstration of his dedication to national causes. Critics took a different view, mocking his cricketing record and questioning his association with the RSS.

Jadhav’s cricket career spanned formats and included two ODI centuries. Since retiring, he has moved increasingly into public and political life, a transition that has kept him in the headlines for reasons unrelated to the sport.

The Vijayadashami parade holds significance for the RSS, marking the culmination of its annual festival and drawing participants from across the organisation. Jadhav’s presence at the Pune event adds a sporting profile to a gathering that is primarily political and cultural in character.
